NW Coast

I have a friend doing a driving trip out to the nw coast and he has offered to pack a cooler to pick up selections of beers that he might see. Any thing in particular he should look for? I already have most anything from Russian River (pliny the elder, damnation, and blind pig).

Any other thoughts?

Tricerahops is a notable, hoppy beer you can get up there. Anything by Deschutes will be great. Try to get their new 'Hop In The Dark'. Fresh Widmer beers can also be great examples of American wheat beers.

A surprisingly good beer is the 'Black Cherry Stout' by Walking Man out of Washington. IMO one of the best implementations of the combination of cherries in stout.

I second Pliny the Elder and especially Blind Pig by Russian River. Both are most excellent.

If anyone happens to be in the Portland area, a stop by Belmont Station bottle shop (http://belmont-station.com/) and the Horse Brass pub (http://www.horsebrass.com/) are most highly recommended. They are only 2 blocks apart.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

Pliny the Younger
The Abyss from Deschutes
Mirror, Mirror from Deschutes
Probably almost anything from Lost Abbey.
Bigger beers from Firestone Walker

I was looking at the russian river site and I did not think they bottled pliny the younger. I thought it was a local and keg release only. Let m eknow if I am wrong and I will add that to the list.
