Buzz Brew Meeting Notes for May 2016

Thanks to Anthony for a presentation on fruit beers.
The club will fund up to $30 for materials for a meeting topic.
OLD NEWS
Competition – The competition frenzy is in full swing. Check the website for general information about the competition – registration dates, beer drop off dates, judges/stewards social… Thanks to Mattox for helping to get that up to date.
Note that as a club member perk, you can enter your beers with a $1 saving - $6 for first entry and $4 for second and beyond. This will be reflected when you are given your total entry fee due.
If you have not registered to judge or steward, please do so ASAP. It is critical to know these numbers so we can determine the number of entries we can reasonably handle. If you are participating in the judging classes, sign up to judge. You will be paired with a registered judge and get some valuable experience.
Specific activities where we will need volunteers:
Saturday, May 28th from 10 am to 1 am. Check in and tag entries. I will need 3 people to help unpack and check in entries. I will put a sign up on the forum.
Wednesday, June 1st from 4pm to 6 pm. Finish check in of new arrivals.
Friday, June 3rd from 1 to 4. Transport entries from Triptych to JT Walkers.
Big Brew – Scheduling is in process. Many changes have occurred at Triptych with the brewing process and this event after the staff have a chance to fine tune the new equipment.
Judges Classes – The club is currently conducting classes to prepare for the tasting exam for BJCP certification. The club will cover the cost of the online exam. There will be a small cost to cover the beers presented at each class. Contact Tim for more information or check the forum. The next scheduled meeting is May 15th at 2 pm. Check the forum for more information.
Competition beer holders – As you are enjoying your favorite commercial beverage, please save the six pack holder to be used at the competition. They are used to sort beer by category, store beer before the competition and to carry beers to the judge’s tables. We have a supply on hand but need to replace many of them that have seen too many competitions. You can drop them off anytime at Triptych..
New Business
Open Pre-business Meeting – In an effort to streamline the business side of the meeting, there will be an open meeting beginning at 6:15 on the normal meeting night. This meeting is open to anyone interested in attending. It will be held in the tasting room at Triptych.
