Hey everyone! Just wanted to point out a free panel on brewing happening as part of the Pygmalion Festival this weekend.

The Methodology and Science Behind the Brew
12:30pm–1:45pm Saturday, September 26th
at Blind Pig Brewery

Panelists are Anthony Benjamin (Triptych), Bill Morgan (Blind Pig), Eric Adkins (Goose Island), and Alex Kunzelman (Columbia St. Roastery's head roaster). There's not a lot of info about the topics they'll be discussing, so it might just be basic Brewing 101 for a general audience, but might be fun to check out all the same.

Apparently I have the happy responsibility of leading the discussion... Here is a heads up with a general sort of outline of things they hope we hit:

-Different methods / practices across different types of brewing
-How does one go about learning how to brew / start brewing / develop their own craft
-How to combat bacteria and maintain cleanliness, safety process with producing beer
-Utilizing crops / hops / etc into production
-How the mass production of beer differs from a small scale run
-Brewing beer vs brewing coffee
-How brewing technology has changed over time
-The future of brewing, how technology helps brewers adapt / change over time
-Local impact in Champaign-Urbana
-Craft beer craze / trends across the world
-Economic impacts of beer production and sale

But personally, I'd much rather go deep into the weeds with audience member questions... so bring some!
